Welcome to Kinetic Arts Dance Studio, the leader in dance education for the Evergreen community. Our studio offers professional instruction centered on creating a strong technical dance foundation in every student. We strive to foster a love of dance in all disciplines, from the very first class. We encourage hard work through positive reinforcement, open communication and a supportive environment. Our staff is extremely dedicated to helping our dancers progress in their skills.

Our location, at the top of Bryant Drive, offers 3,000 square feet of space, including two studios with shock-absorbing marley floors, and a spacious lobby equipped with dressing rooms and viewing windows into each studio.

We offer instruction in BALLET, TAP, JAZZ, HIP HOP, CONTEMPORARY/LYRICAL, POMS & POINTE for ages 3 and up. Classes range from beginner through advanced/pre-professional. Our fall schedule runs from mid-August through the end of May. Classes meet weekly, and in some cases, twice weekly. During the summer we offer dance camps & intensives for all ages & ability levels. We believe that every dancer deserves the chance to shine under the bright stage lights! Our dancers have the opportunity to perform two times each year. Our annual Winter Showcase is held in December. Our Spring Recital is held the first weekend of June. Our competition teams, Kinetic Company, also perform at community events & regional/national competitions.

Studio Policies

Dress Code:- NO JEWELRY OR STREET SHOES MAY BE WORN TO ANY CLASS.- Hair must be worn away from the face & tightly secured for all classes. Please do not send your child to class without hair pulled back. - Preschool & Level 1 Ballet/Tap Combo Classes: Black/Pink Leotard & Pink Tights. Pink ballet shoes, black patent leather tap shoes. Tap shoes must be fastened by Velcro or Elastic PLEASE REPLACE TIES WITH AN ELASTIC LOOP. No ballet skirts please, unless they are attached to the leotard. - Ballet (levels 2-5 & pointe): Black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet slippers No exceptions. Skirts may not be worn until level 4 ballet. - Jazz/Contemporary/Poms: Jazz pants or shorts with a leotard or fitted tank top, any color. Tights are permitted, but not required. Black or tan split-sole jazz shoes. Lyrical shoes/foot undies may be worn for contemporary class ONLY. Hair must be worn away from the face.- Hip Hop: Comfortable, moveable clothes. No jeans. Clean athletic shoes intended for studio use only. No street shoes please.- Tap: Comfortable, moveable clothes. No jeans. Preschool & Level 1: Black patent-leather shoes. Level 2 & up: lace-up black leather jazz tap shoes.- Students not adhering to the dress code will be asked not to participate in class.Payment: Tuition is due by the last day of each month. A late fee of $15 will be automatically charged for all payments not received by the 5th of the month. We do not mail invoices to students. Tuition remains the same whether there are 3, 4 or 5 classes in a month. No charge will be added when five classes occur during the month. This extra class is considered compensation for snow days, holidays, and months when three classes occur during the month. Tuition may be paid by cash, check, Visa or MasterCard. A $15 fee will be charged for all returned checks. Registration Fee: A non-refundable annual registration fee of $25 per family will be automatically charged at the time of enrollment. Recital & Costume Fees: Every Kinetic Arts dancer will have the option to perform in our spring recital. Costume fees for the spring recital will be due by Nov. 1 (approx. $45-$65 per costume). Tickets to the show will be sold in the spring at the cost of $15 per ticket.Class Placement: Class placement in levels 3-5 is by teacher permission only. Dancers without previous experience will not be granted permission to dance in levels 3-5 classes. Children must turn the appropriate age for their class by Oct. 31 in order to enroll. Dancers can expect to study in each level for 2-3 years before moving up to the next level.Behavior: All students will be expected to be respectful to teachers and fellow students. Kinetic Arts has a zero-tolerance policy regarding bullying, or putting down other students, teachers or studios. If an issue is brought to the directors attention, a meeting will be called with the parents. If the behavior continues, the student will dismissed from the studio. No gum chewing or eating will be allowed during class. Food is permitted in the lobby only. Students may bring a water bottle with them to class.Attendance: Weekly attendance is very important to ensure that students do not fall behind in the curriculum. No refunds will be given for missed classes, however, makeup classes are encouraged. During the month of May, classes are mandatory so dancers can prepare for the recital. Please be sure that students arrive on time for all classes, and not more than 15 minutes early. For their safety, students will not be allowed to leave the studio lobby unless accompanied by an adult.Observing Classes: Parents are encouraged to sit in the lobby and observe classes through the viewing windows. Parents may sit in the classroom one time during the school year. Please arrange an observation day in advance with the teacher.Parent Communication: All studio information will be included in our monthly newsletter, sent via e-mail to all parents. If you wish to receive a hard copy of communications, you must request this on your registration form. The newsletter will also be posted on the studio website, and posted in the studio lobby.Class Cancellations: The studio will be closed for the following holidays and school breaks: Labor Day, Thanksgiving week, Winter Break (2 weeks), Spring Break. Snow day or other class cancellations will be emailed to parents, posted on the studio web site & on the studio voice mail no later than two hours before the cancelled class.Dropping Classes: You may drop a class at any time throughout the school year. You must notify Kinetic Arts in writing for all dropped classes. Kinetic Arts will continue to invoice you for tuition until written notice is received. Refunds will not be given for classes that are dropped mid-month.

Cost is $18 per class, and walk-ins are welcome. All are welcome, whether you were a dancer during your childhood, or always had a dream of learning ballet. Now is your opportunity to train with a world-class instructor!Downtown Evergreen Holiday Walk, Dec. 2: Come support our Kinetic Arts Dancers as they perform at the Downtown Evergreen Holiday Walk on Friday, Dec. 2. Our girls will perform between 6:00 and 6:30 pm on the main stage in front of Evergreen Crafters. This is a wonderful community event, and a wonderful way to show your support for our studio!SNOW DAY MAKE UP CLASSES DEC. 3: We will be offering makeup classes for the October snow day on Saturday, Dec. 3. These classes are not mandatory, but we are offering them as a service to our families.3-4 pm: Hip Hop 3 & Ballet 24-5 pm: Hip Hop 2 & Ballet 35-6 pm: Hip Hop 5 & Ballet 46-7pm: Hip hop 4 & Ballet 57-7:30 pm: Beginning PointeWinter Showcase Week! Mark your calendars for the week of Dec. 12-16! This will be our Winter Showcase week! We have re-formatted our winter performance this year. Parents are invited to all classes during this week! During the last 10 minutes of each class, the dancers will perform a routine that showcases the technique they've been working on this fall. Parents may observe the entire class, or just come for the show (and holiday treats!) at the end of class!Weather Class Cancellation Policy: With winter weather coming our way (maybe even in the next few days!), I wanted everyone to be aware of our class cancellation policy. In the event of a class cancellation due to weather, I will make an announcement by NOON. I will also email the notice to the studio database and post the notice on the studio web site, and Facebook page. In addition, I will leave a message on the studio's answering machine. While we do not offer refunds for cancelled classes, we will do our best to offer makeup classes. Auditions for the team are held in late May/early June. The team consists of a select group of students who train several hours each week in multiple styles of dance. The dancers perform at community events throughout the year. In addition, they train for regional/national competitions. The group attends conventions with renowned guest teachers and choreographers from around the country. The team has attended events such as Pulse, Co.Dance, Nuvo, West Coast Dance Explosion, Showbiz, Nexstar & Starpower. Team members become well-rounded in their training, learn the art of performing, and form lasting friendships. The Kinetic Company experience pushes dancers excell in all aspects of their lives.Requirements: From September through May, Company members are required to take several hours of technique class per week in various styles, along with weekday & weekend rehearsals for competition routines. BETSY HOFFMAN, STUDIO DIRECTOR: Betsy has been the proud owner of Kinetic Arts since 2007. She has achieved her second level of certification in dance instruction from the Dance Educators Association, and has attended numerous dance teacher workshops throughout the country. She began dancing at age two and has extensive training in jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop and contemporary. Betsy competed dance at the regional and national level throughout her childhood and into her college years. Betsy was a captain of the nationally-ranked CU Express Varsity Dance Team at the University of Colorado, as well as the 1996 State Champion Evergreen High School Poms. She has been teaching and choreographing for studios and high schools throughout Colorado since 1997. ARIANA MILLER, JAZZ & CONTREMPORARY INSTRUCTOR & KINETIC COMPANY CO-DIRECTOR: A lifelong dancer and teacher of 10 years, Ariana holds a minor in dance from the University of Colorado in Boulder. Her training includes jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, and most recently ballroom. In 2001 she received the Choreographer of the Year - Junior Division award at the LADF Nationals. LAURA GRISSOM, BALLET/TAP COMBO, JAZZ, & POMS INSTRUCTOR: Laura began dancing at the tender age of two and was classically trained in the Cecchetti ballet method as well as tap, hip hop, lyrical and jazz. She was graded and passed through Grade V by the Cecchetti Council of America. Laura was a member of the dance company at a large studio just outside Washington D.C. where she participated in countless dance competitions in group, duet and solo categories and taught Beginning Dance to young dancers. She was also a member of her high schools varsity dance team. In addition to teaching dance, Laura is an NASM certified personal trainer and Group Fitness Instructor. She has been trained and teaches multiple formats including ZUMBATM, the latest cardio dance craze.
LEANNE VIELEHR, BALLET & POINTE INSTRUCTOR: Originally from Reno, Nevada, Leanne began dancing at age 5 and was classically trained and graded in the Cecchetti ballet method. In addition to ballet, Leanne has trained in Jazz, Lyrical and Character. Leanne danced semi-professionally for 3 years with the Nevada Festival Ballet and performed in the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Firebird and La Sylphide and excerpts from Gaite' Parisienne. After moving to Colorado, Leanne continued her ballet and jazz training at the University of Colorado at Boulder.ABBY STEWART, JAZZ & CONTEMPORARY INSTRUCTOR & KINETIC COMPANY CO-DIRECTOR: Abby has been dancing since she was a young child. She focused originally on classical ballet under the tutelage of the well-renowned Roman Jasinski and Moscelyne Larkin, founders of the Tulsa Ballet. She was an original scholarship recipient of the Los Angeles-based EGDGE Performing Arts Center, which is owned and operated by the original creators of LA Dance Force. She also received a scholarship from the Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago company, as well as Steps on Broadway in New York City. Her professional dancing has taken her across the country from Los Angeles, to New York City and Atlantic City, NJ. She has trained extensively in all forms of dance and specializes in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theatre. She is excited to join the Kinetic Arts staff this year!DAWN ANDRES, TAP INSTRUCTOR: Dawn Andres began studying dance at the age of 8 in Austin, Tx under Shirley McPhail. She began teaching tap, ballet and jazz while in Jr High school and continued through college while attending the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a BS Pharmacy degree. She has attended numerous Texas Association of Teachers of Dance conventions and participated in several workshops where she had the opportunity to study directly under such tap greats such as Louis DuPron, Buster Cooper, Patsy Swayze, Acia Gray, Robert Reed, Tommy Tune, Ayodele Casel, and Jason Samuels Smith. She is currently studying tap from Tap Master and former Broadway dancer, Gene GeBauer, where she performs with his advanced adult tap group. CYNTHIA GIANNINI GOTTLOB, BALLET INSTRUCTOR: Cynthia Giannini Gottlob danced professionally with the Joffrey Ballet for 15 years. She was featured in many of the ballets she danced in and worked with world renowned choreographers. She was classically trained in the Vagonova and RAD ballet syllabuses. She danced classical, semi classical and contemporary works with the company. In 94. during a six month hiatus from the Joffrey, she performed leading roles with the Galaxy of Stars, directed by Cynthia Gregory, one of America's most famous ballerinas. She retired in 1999 and taught ballet for a number of schools in the Chicago area before having children and moving to Colorado in 2001. Cynthia loves working with those who are interested in pursuing their highest potential. She has recently returned to dancing and has been learning and competing in Latin and Standard styles of Ballroom. She loves the creative process and along with her ballroom partners, has been choreographing dances infused with ballet and ballroom aspects. She has created pieces for her students as well, to perform at social and theater productions. She would love at this time in her life to share everything that she has learned with willing students. Dance was her life for most of her life and she is so happy to return to it recently.TARA MCFARLAND, HIP HOP INSTRUCTOR: Tara has been studying dance for 11 years, beginning in her hometown in Idaho and pursued her dance degree at Mills College, Arizona State University, and the University of Idaho where she received her Bachelor of Science in Dance in 2007 and was Co-founder of the U of I Break Dance Club. With a background in poppin, lockin, and breakin styles, Tara has taught hip hop for Spectrum II Dance, the University of Idaho, the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, Northwest Dance Center, and was director of Fusion Dance & Theatre Company's BBoyz Crew. She has also taken class with world renowned choreographers such as Mikayla, Dave Scott, Wade Robson, Brian Friedman, and Chris Judd in addition to her other studies of ballet, modern, and jazz techniques. Currently a professional company member at Louder Than Words Dancetheatre, Tara's future includes graduate studies of Dance Pedagogy to pursue the life of a professional dance academic and educator. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge and love for dance with the staff and students of Kinetic Arts.
