What is the Mountain Backpacks Program?

Mountain Packpacks is a program of the Rotary Club of Evergreen and Evergreen Lutheran Church.  Founded in 2013, the program provides food for over 60 children in the mountain community.  One in seven families in Evergreen struggle with food insecurity.  Children enrolled in the program receive breakfast, lunch and snacks on the weekends.  They pick up their backpacks at school on Fridays and return them on Mondays to be refilled by a team of volunteers. Participating schools are Wilmot, Marshdale, RMAE, Bergen Meadow, Bergen Valley, Parmalee and Evergreen Middle School.  Volunteers meet on Wednesdays from 4-6 pm to pack the backpacks.  Volunteers are always needed.   Sign up HERE to volunteer!
